SAMSUNG AND SEARS "PAIR UP" TO BRING CANADA'S BIGGEST NAMES IN SKATING TO FANS
New sponsors support Canada's favourite skating tour "Stars on Ice" and give fans
the chance to win a $20,000 kitchen makeover

 

 

Each spring, Stars on Ice brings the biggest names in figure skating to fans across the country, and today the tour proudly announced Sears and Samsung as new sponsors of Canada's favourite skating tour. The 2009 tour, named Sears Stars on Ice presented by Smucker's, will be powered by Samsung as the tour visits 12 cities across Canada, including three new markets.

 

At the same time, one of the country's most promising pair teams was announced as guest skaters in select markets.  Jessica Dubé and Bryce Davison-the Canadian pair champions who earned a silver medal in last month's Four Continents Figure Skating Championships-will join the cast for shows in Toronto, Hamilton and London.  Additional guest skaters will be announced.

 

As part of Sears' and Samsung's support of the Stars on Ice tour, the companies are teaming up to give fans of the tour a dream kitchen makeover complete with sleek and stylish Samsung appliances, valued at more than $20,000. Fans are asked to submit a photo of their kitchen at www.starsonice.ca along with a short write-up about why their kitchen deserves the makeover. The cast of Stars on Ice will vote to determine the winner at the conclusion of the tour.

Tickets for the 2009 Sears Stars on Ice presented by Smucker's tour, which kicks off in Halifax on Thursday, April 23, 2009 and visits 12 cities across Canada before wrapping up in Vancouver on May 12, are on sale now. Fans can visit www.starsonice.ca for ticket information in their city.

 

Dubé & Davison will be joining a star-studded cast which includes four-time World Champion Kurt Browning, Olympic gold medalists Jamie Salé & David Pelletier, Olympic silver medalist Sasha Cohen, who made her first appearance in last year's tour, six-time Canadian Champion Jennifer Robinson, five-time Canadian Champion Joannie Rochette and Olympic bronze medalist and reigning World Champion Jeff Buttle, who recently announced his retirement from competitive skating.

 

The all-new production On the Edge promises to keep fans on the edge of their seats as the best skaters in the world show their amazing moves on the ice.

Sears Stars on Ice presented by Smucker's is an IMG Production.  Executive Producer is Byron Allen.  Emmy Award nominee and skating icon Scott Hamilton serves as Producer.  Three-time Emmy Award winner Jef Billings returns as Director and Costume Designer.  Cindy Stuart is Choreographer, and Errol Reinart is Lighting Designer.

 

Rejoining the tour as Presenting Sponsor is Smucker's, a long-time title sponsor of the U.S. Stars on Ice tour, and presenting sponsor of the Canadian tour for the fourth year.
